If you discover a error message like “The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.” on your HP server when you try to use the HP Version Agent via the HP System Management Homepage, then it might be that the webserver Configuration is broken. But it is easy to fix.
The complete error message is the following:
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, [no address given] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
To solve that:
1.) Deinstall the HP System Management Homepage
2.) Deinstall the HP Version Agent
3.) Rename C:\hp\hpsmh to C:\hp\hpsmh_old
4.) Download the latest “HP PSP” from the Internet and run it on the affected server. This will re-install the software you deinstalled
